Jean Cooper Blevins, age 89, of Whitley City, passed away Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky and was placed into the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral Services was held on Tuesday, May 14th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation was on Monday, May 13th, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

Jean was born on March 10th, 1935 to Leamon "Dick" Cooper and Helen (Johnson) Cooper in Whitley City. After graduating from McCreary County High School, Jean completed a two-year degree at Cumberland College before attending Eastern Kentucky University. On April 22nd, 1952 Jean married her late husband, Conley Blevins. In 1961, Jean graduated EKU with a bachelor's degree in library science. Jean would go on to work and retire as a librarian in the McCreary County School District. Even after retirement she continued to teach students by working in Adult Education. She loved spending time with her family playing bridge, crocheting, and working puzzles. Jean and Conley were faithful members of the Whitley City First Baptist Church, where Jean was a member of the Sisters of the Skillet.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Conley Blevins, and her brother James Dale Cooper.

Surviving her in death is her son, Ralph Blevins and his wife Rebecca of Corbin, her brother, Dr. Wayne Cooper and his wife Christine, of Williamsburg, her grandson, John Blevins and his wife Savannah of Corbin, two great grandchildren, Gracie, and Delilah Blevins, and many nieces and nephews.
