Jimmie Cordell, age 68, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was born March 13, 1958, in Alexandria, Kentucky, to the late Venson Cordell and Geraldine Barhorst Cordell. Jimmie was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, building things, and carpentry. He especially enjoyed family cookouts and simply spending time with those he loved.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Diana Wright Cordell; two sons, Jerry Lee Cordell and Jeremy Cordell; and one brother, Danny Cordell.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Cordell Jr. and wife Shelly, of Stearns, Kentucky, and Venson Cordell and wife Chaslin, of Pine Knot, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Dana Cordell, of Williamsburg, Kentucky; brother, Venson Cordell II and wife Mary, of Stearns, Kentucky; sister, Laura Cordell, of Stearns, Kentucky; and a special nephew, Landon Cordell.

Jimmie is also survived by nine grandchildren, Felicia, Gracie, Bryer, Zack, Gavin, Tammy, Bailey, Owen, and Makenna Cordell; and four great-grandchildren, Adeline Cordell, Gracelynn Cordell, Oakley Brewster, and Wesley Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral service.

Jimmie will be remembered as a man who found happiness in the simple things in life—a day spent fishing or hunting, working with his hands, tending his garden, gathering around a cookout, and, most of all, being surrounded by his family. The things he built with his hands may remain for years to come, but the greatest legacy he leaves behind is found in the lives of the family he loved. His presence, his stories, and the many memories shared with him will be deeply treasured. Jimmie will be greatly missed, but he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
