Rev. John H. Duvall, Sr., age 92 years, 9 months, and 27 days, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Somerset Nursing and Rehab. Facility, Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Harvey Corder and Bro. John H. Duvall, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Clear View Cemetery. He was born November 11, 1924 in Hill Top, Kentucky to Warren Van Buren Duvall and Nannie Ota Morton Duvall. John was an ordained Baptist Minister and a member of Clear View United Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, he enjoyed studying his bible, John was a preacher's preacher, an avid reader, and found enjoyment in organic farming. He worked briefly for the USDA Forest Service, and Soil Conservation district in the 60's and was a book keeper for Gregory Lumber Mill. John was a Christian and loved spending time with his family, he was a family man. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Hettie Ilene Corder Duvall, whom he married October 19, 1950, and two brothers, Tommy Duvall, and Morton Duvall, three sisters, Maxine Duvall Griffis, Molly Duvall, and Cara Francis Duvall. Survivors include two sons, Rev. John H. Duvall, Jr., and his wife Billie, of Stearns, Kentucky, Scott Duvall, one daughter, Jenny Burton, and her husband, Larry, of Somerset, Kentucky, one sister, Wilma Corder, and her husband, Charlie, of Smithtown, Kentucky, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
