John Frank Hammons July 25, 1946 - October 22, 2017 John Frank Hammons age 71, of Barbourville was born there on July 25, 1946. He was the son of the late Orville John Hammons and Elsie Love Hammons. Frank died Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Baptist Health in Corbin. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 12:00 pm, at the Hopper Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Casada officiating. Burial was in the Glasscock Cemetery in Barbourville, Kentucky. Frank was a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church. He was a State EPA Engineer for thirty seven years before retiring. Frank served in the United States Army. He united in marriage to Gwindlen Kay Hamilton and to this union a beloved son and daughter were born. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Mollie and Robert Hamilton and Brother-in-law, Charles Moore. Frank is survived by his wife,Gwindlen Kay Hammons of Barbourville, Son, Stephen Hammons and wife, Stacey of Pine Knot, Kentucky; Daughter, Whitney Hammons of Boston, Massachusetts; his dear grandchildren; Kelsie, Isabella and Bryce; his sister; Helen Hammons Moore and daughter, Mindy of Barbourville and many other relatives and dear friends. Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Hammons, grandson, Bryce Hammons, brother-in-law, Ernest Sanders, friends, Johnnie Detherage, Shawn Smith, Michael Branstutter and Roy J. Branstutter.
