J.T. Terry age 78 years, 4 months, and 30 days of Stearns Kentucky passed away Tuesday April 19, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Graveside services were held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 4:30 pm at the Barren Fork Cemetery with Bro. Bruce Dixon officiating. J.T. was born on November 20th, 1937 in Fidelity, Kentucky to Harvey and Hattie (Nichols) Terry. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United State Air Force for 20 years, from 1955 to 1975. J.T. married Margret Elizabeth (Upton) Terry from Shipton-under-Wychwood, England on April 4th 1959 and they had five sons as they traveled to multiple countries and locations within the United States during his active duty. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Lay's Furniture in Oneida Tennessee followed by working numerous years at the Pine Knot Job Corp. J.T. enjoyed watching Kentucky Basketball. He was often seen around town with his dog "Waggy" at the local parks and restaurants. Preceding him in death are his parents Harvey and Hattie Terry; a son, David Scott Terry; a brother Paul and wife Cleda Terry; a sister Maye and husband Glenn Foster; mother-in-law, Rose Upton; a sister-in-law, Faye Terry; and a grand nephew, Paul Allan Terry. Survivors include his wife Margret Elizabeth Terry of Whitley City, KY; sons, Steve Terry and wife, Jan, of Huntsville, TN, Bill Terry and wife, Lesley, of Whitley City, KY, Mark Terry and wife, Rebekah of Stafford, VA, and Jeff Terry and wife, Lynn of Whitley City, KY; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Terry of Oneida, TN; a brother, R.L. Terry of Whitley City, KY; sisters, Fayrene Roberts and Wanda Phillips and husband, Lawrence, all of Whitley City, KY; grandchildren Ashley Davis and husband Orrin, Chelsea Evans and husband Robby, Jordan Terry, Kelli Terry, Cierra Terry, Matthew Terry, Lauren Terry, Chase Terry, and Connor Terry; a great-grandson, Mason Davis; and a great-granddaughter, Ellie Evans. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. J.T. Terry.
