Kathleen "Kathy" Berkowitz, age 80, was born on December 9, 1945, and passed away on March 18, 2026.

Kathy was the daughter of John and Francis Ferro, and sister to Robert Ferro, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by David Fischer, the father of her children, her husband Fred Berkowitz, her grandson Dustin Tunk, and her granddaughter Allison Fischer.

Kathy was the proud mother of seven children: Daniel (Anna) Fischer, Sandi (Paul) Pickrell, Tammy (Scott) Shelley, Vicki (Charlie) Tunk, Theresa Ferro, James Ferro, and Matthew Ferro. She loved each of them in her own way and carried them with her through every season of her life. She leaves behind a large family of grandchildren who were part of her life: Jon (Kristina) Henrich, Asia (Ryan) Lewandowski, Armond Fischer, Skyler Tunk, Aurora Fischer, Alexa Fischer, Aliza Fischer, Wyatt Shelley, and Lindsey (Roy) Robey. Kathy is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Avery Bogue, Jack Henrick, Addison Henrick.

Kathy will be remembered for her strength, her independence, and the life she built through many seasons of change. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her.

Funeral services were held at Hickman‑Strunk Funeral Home, 156 Main St., Whitley City, KY 42653, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
