Howard Kenny Carson age 54 years, 5 months, and 16 days of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Baptist Health of Corbin. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hap Strunk and Bro. Bobby Lawrence Hill officiating. He was born May 20, 1961 in Oneida, Tennessee to Kenard Carson and Martha (Byrd) Carson. Kenny was a member of the Pine Knot Southern Baptist. He retired from the United States Marine Corp after serving his country for over 20 years, including The Gulf War. Kenny enjoyed travelling and taking cruises, as well as playing guitar and listening to Bluegrass music in Gatlinburg. But above all, Kenny enjoyed caring for his family and spending time with his granddaughter, Kennedy. Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Leon and Laura Carson, John Riley and Cora Byrd. Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Tucker) Carson, whom he married, September 1, 1984; son, Kenny Nathaniel Carson and wife, Whitney, of Whitley City, Kentucky; a daughter, Amanda Carson and Fiancé, Randy Dugger, of Pine Knot, Kentucky; his parents, Kenard and Martha Carson, of Pine Knot, Kentucky; brothers, Johnny Carson also of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Ricky Carson and wife, Dawn, of Somerset, Kentucky; sisters, Pam Upchurch also of Somerset, Kentucky, and Sherry New and husband, Randy, of Whitley City, Kentucky; a special granddaughter, Kennedy Carson; and a large host of extended family. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Kenny Carson.
