Lindon A. Vanover age 82 years, 4 months, and 19 days of Whitley City, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial followed in the Neely's Creek Cemetery. He was born February 4, 1934 in Alpine, Kentucky to Samuel and Annie (Cook) Vanover. Lindon retired from National Steel as a Quality Inspector after 32 years. He enjoyed playing music, hunting, bird dogs, and listening to music, but first and foremost he was a family man. Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Myrtle Dean (Neely) Vanover; a granddaughter, Mari Lynn; brothers, Clinton, Glenn, and Lawrence Vanover; sisters, Christine Stephens, Macie Neal, Goldie Hammock, and Alberta Smith. Survivors include his daughters, Jeanne Lynn Mullins of Taylor, Michigan, Joyce Anne Dukus and Ruby Jennifer Vanover both of Whitley City, Kentucky, and Rebecca K. St. John of Trenton, Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Lindon Vanover.
