Lois Anderson, age 87 years, 5 months, and 3 days, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Miller officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Knob Cemetery. She was born March 26, 1933 in Sawyer, Kentucky to Franklin Gayle Taylor and Anna Clark Taylor. After graduating from CumberlandCollege with a B.S. in education, Lois began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse and taught for thirty-nine and a half years in the McCreary County School System before her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church and active in many church activities. Lois was widowed at a young age and was very devoted to her daughters. She enjoyed UK basketball, church and spending time with her family and friends. She loved teaching and doing for others. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Dorman Kenneth Anderson, sisters, Eva Clark and Edna Borgwardt, and brothers, Glen Taylor and Doyle Taylor. Survivors include her daughters, Kim Anderson and Gayla Anderson, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Lois Anderson.
