Lorene Crabtree Phillips, age 81, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 surrounded by all of her family, and was placed into the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral Services were on Sunday, July 28th, 2024 at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial was in the Angel Pointe Cemetery.

Lorene was born on February 5th, 1943 in Pine Knot, KY to the Late William Crit and Mary Belle (Kidd) Crabtree. Lorene loved her children and all of her grandbabies. She enjoyed family dinners, and would always say, "Now that's good eatin!" She really enjoyed watching UK basketball games, and you could usually hear her throughout the house cheering on her Wildcats. Lorene loved to sew anything from clothes to quilts. She also enjoyed embroidery, working on tablecloths, napkins, and pillowcases. Lorene had a love for sweets, she would say, "now, there isn't a bad chocolate!" She had tremendous passion for plants and flowers, and she would find any clear spot in the yard, or simply throw the seeds, and they would grow flowers that were 6 Feet tall. Sometimes she would be called the Plant Doctor, as she could bring any lifeless plant back to its former beauty. She was an amazing craftsman, she had her own set of power tools, and if she saw something she liked or wanted she would make it, build it, or fix it, and sometimes even plumb it!

Lorene was a loving, funny, kind, sweet, and caring momma, there was never a harsh word said to anyone, unless they did wrong. Her smile was always so big, sometimes to where you couldn't even see her eyes. Her laugh was loud and just as big as her heart. To get to know Lorene was to fall in love with her, her sweetness was the same as her love for chocolate.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers, Ernest, Chester, Walter, Bill Frank, and Kenneth Crabtree, her five sisters, Irene Burk, Nora West, Dora Maynard, Maxine Ross, and Margret Crabtree.

She is survived by her children, Tony Phillips and Angela, Denise West and Adam, Tim Phillips and Debbie, Greg Phillips and Janet, Heather Bell and Greg, Jessica Phillips and Bruce, all of Stearns, and Chuck Vanover, of Cincinnati, her 24 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Chris, Brandon, Jordan, Hayley, Micheal, Josh, Alex, Tabitha, Amy, Dylan, Harley, Roxy, Megan, Kevin, Cody, Amber, Kelly, Mike, Ryan, Kayla, Vance, Justin, and Jackson, and many wonderful great-grandchildren.
