Marilyn Koger, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 at her home in Whitley City. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Whitley City United Methodist Church with Bro. Charles Spice and Bro. Mike Gregory officiating. Burial was in the Methodist Cemetery. She was born December 5, 1932 in Whitley City to Jimmie Burke and Zona Hamlin Burke. Marilyn worked with the Farmers Home Administration until her retirement. She had attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and was a very accomplished pianist and organist. Marilyn was a member of the Whitley City United Methodist Church and served as pianist and organist nearly seventy years, she was an active member as long as her health permitted. She also taught piano for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, needlepoint, quilting, and crocheting. Marilyn loved family gathering and hosting friends at Barthell. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Harold "Sonny" Koger, and a brother, Ralph "Sonny" Burke. Survivors include three sons, Dwight Koger and his wife, Diane, of Burlington, New Jersey, Brian Koger of Whitley City, and Richard Koger and his wife, Donna, of Marshes Siding, a sister, Phyllis Stephens and her husband, Earl, of Cookeville, Tennessee, five grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Shannon, David, and Rodney, and four great grandchildren, Oakley, Everly, Tanner, and Marcy.
