Mary Virginia Sams Harris, age 88, beloved wife of Julian Harris, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024. Born on July 29, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late Homer and Katherine Young Brooks.

Mary devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker and was an active member of Alansville Baptist Church. She found joy in family gatherings, especially treasured trips to the beach and Gatlinburg with her "precious family." She was a member of the Eastern Star group.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Julian, and her children: Alan (Kathy) Sams, Steve Sams, and Karen Sams. She also leaves behind her stepsons, Chris (Jamie) Harris and Mitchell (Shelley) Harris, along with her grandchildren: Jamie (PJ) Chesson, James (Breanna) Mullins, Kristina Sams, Nova Mullins, Julie Mullins, Steven Sams, Mandy Spring, Joe Kirchmayer, Billy Sams, Chris Sams; great grandchildren, Luke Harris, Haven Harris, Harmony Harris, Jaidyn Sams, Seanna Mullins, Madison Mullins, Tristan Mullins, Cash Chesson, Presley Chesson, Keeley Chesson, Landyn Mullins,Timothy Haney, Kaylan Haney, Raven Hudson, Willow Stevens, and Shawn Spencer; several extended family members and her beloved dog, Bella.

Mary was loved by her family and will be tremendously missed by all who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Larry Sams, grandsons Shawn Sams and Jason Mullins, and her siblings Ronnie Brooks, Kay Rogowski, and Carol Harlow.

A service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Alansville Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Paul Jorgenson and Pastor Ray Coates. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Carter Cemetery in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday at the church, leading up to the service.
