Mary Elizabeth Wilson, known as "Mawsie" to the family, age 74 years, 3 months, and 12 days, of Parkers Lake passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Decker officiating. Burial was in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

She was born October 28, 1948 in Somerset, Kentucky to J. Earl Wilson and Lois Ryan Wilson. Mary Liz began her teaching career at the age of nineteen. She received her Bachelors in Education from Cumberland College, a Master's Degree from Eastern University, and Rank 1 from Union College. She taught in Louisville for one year and finished her thirty year career with the McCreary County School District, teaching both at Whitley City Elementary School and Pine Knot Elementary School. Mary Liz was an avid University of Kentucky fan and enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and attending bluegrass festivals. She especially loved spending time with her friends and family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her son, Jay Ryan Wilson.

Survivors include her brother, Jay Dudley Wilson of Whitley City, grandsons, Joshua Ryan Wilson and Jessie Wayne Rose, both of Strunk, a great grandson, Joel Ryan Wilson and numerous other relatives and friends.
