Maurice (Morris) Gene Gilreath, age 70 years, 11 months, and 7 days, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky. Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Murphy officiating. He was born October 21, 1946 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to Elmer Gilreath and Mary Ruth King Gilreath. Maurice worked in many different fields during his life, he did construction work with his father and worked on the railroad for several years. He also was a truck driver for 27 years and had been in maintenance at the Lake Cumberland District Heath Department. He was a member of the Pine Knot Southern Baptist Church. Maurice loved his Wildcats, both basketball and football, spending time with his dogs, and was passionate about wood working. He loved spending time with his family. Preceding him in death was his father, and a son, Maurice Gene Gilreath, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Gilreath, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, his mother, Mary Ruth Gilreath, of Somerset, Kentucky, one daughter, Mona Lisa Haught, and her husband, Stan, of Columbus, Ohio, one sister, Judy Ferring, of Somerset, Kentucky, two grandchildren, Michael and Anna Haught, of Columbus, Ohio, and the mother of his children, Phyllis, of Baltimore, Maryland.
