Myrtle Marie Hamlin Engle, age 91, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 31, 2026, and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Born on March 11, 1935, in Creekmore, Kentucky, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Rev. Ledford Perry and Mandora Lovett Perry. She was a devoted member of East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Myrtle married Eugene Hamlin in 1949, and together they shared many years of love and family until his passing in 1990. She found great joy in life's simple blessings and was well known for her love of gardening, cooking, and embroidery. Above all else, Myrtle cherished her family. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those she loved. Her kindness, nurturing spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Leamon Perry; her son-in-law, Kenneth "Fred" Cooper; her sisters, Doris Chitwood and Kathleen Douglas, brother-in-law Earnest Chitwood and Clarence Douglas, and great granddaughters Kelsey Snell and Kayla Lee-Ann.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Elmer Hamlin and wife, Patricia, Lester Dale Hamlin and wife, Arlene, and Estil Leamon Hamlin and wife, Nora; her daughter, Mahala Gail Thacker and husband, William; her sister, Bertie Maude Meadors and husband, Charles; 5 grandchildren Jamie Hamlin (Regina) Shannon Hamlin (Jennifer) Ginger Snell (Thomas) Anthony Hensley (Sarah) Wesley Hamlin (Charity); 8 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in the chapel of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hayes Creek Cemetery.
