Paul Louis Smith, age 77 years, 1 month, and 26 days passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, At St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery.

Paul was born on November 2, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Paul William Smith and Katherine Mae Smith. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked and retired from the McCreary County Board of Education as a custodian.

Paul had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and camping. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to joke and make people laugh. He also enjoyed listening to music and taking trips to Dollywood, which brought him much joy.

Preceding him in death were his parents and wife, Barbara Etta Lawson Smith.

Survivors include his son, Dustin Smith, daughter, Marea Strunk, and husband, Mike, grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Tyler and Bradly, great grandchildren, Johnathan, Jandro, Harvey, Makenna, Myles, Evan, Adan, Declan, and Aurora.
