Peggy Edelene Murphy Wilson was born on August 8, 1934 to the parents of John and Robbie Murphy. She grew up on Cal Hill and graduated from the Pine Knot High School. Peggy was always proud of her roots from Pine Knot.

She departed this life on August 22, 2026 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center in Somerset, Ky. She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Robbie Lingo Murphy; her sisters: Lenis Murphy Hill; Naomi Lavonne Murphy; Blanche Murphy Douglas; Lois Murphy Latimer; and her brother Wilbur Dean Murphy.

She is survived by her son, John Mark Wilson, her daughter, Susan Michele Wilson Jones, (husband Russell) and grandson, Brett Russell Jones who was the light of her life. She is also survived by four generations of nieces and nephews.

While we grieve for her death we are comforted in her faith. She was baptized at the Stearns First Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to the Whitley City United Methodist Church where she remained an active member for many years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 1:30pm in the chapel of the Hickman Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed at Lower Cal Hill Cemetery.
