Pernia Estelle Lewis, age 76 years, 5 months, and 24 days, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Braxton King officiating. Burial was in the Pine Knot Cemetery. She was born July 24, 1943 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to John West and Laura (Ross) Whalen. Pernia was a retired dental assistant, and was a member of Stearns First Baptist Church. Pernia enjoyed reading, antiquing, crossword puzzles, and most especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Preceding her in death include her parents, her husband, Jim Lewis, whom she married December 17, 1960, her sister, Sharon Bolin, her brother, George West, an infant brother, as well as her grandson, Noah Spradlin. Survivors include a son Jimmy Lewis, and his wife Daphene, of Manchester, Kentucky, two daughters, Delores Lewis, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Shari Spradlin, and her husband Scott, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, her brother, Carl B. King, of Revelo, Kentucky, two sisters Erna Godsey, of Revelo, Kentucky and Navada Haynes, of Somerset, Kentucky, grandchildren, Calley, Laurie, and Megan, great grandchildren, Laurel and Aubrey, along with a host of special nieces and nephews.
