Randall Gale Kidd, 80, went home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2026 at Bridgepointe Christian Care Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Stearns First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Tuesday at the church.
Born January 25, 1946, at Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee, Randall was the son of the late William Guy and Ada Dolen Kidd. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Lee Kidd and Michael Kidd, and his sister, Lois Ann Kidd Wilson.
Randall is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Elaine Davis Kidd, who he loved with all his heart, his daughter, Crinda Francke (Kenny) of Nicholasvile, Kentucky, and his son, Randy Kidd of Stearns, Kentucky.
He was a proud grandfather to Alexandra Francke Sohn (Peter) of Lexington, Kentucky; Reagan Kidd Buttram (Aaron) of Somerset, Kentucky; Zachary J. Francke of St. Louis, Missouri; Lily Grace Kidd of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ashton Guy Kidd of Stearns, Kentucky; and Timothy C. Chestnut and Makayla Chestnut, both of Whitley City, Kentucky. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren; Colton, Logan, and Andrew Buttram.
For nearly 30 years, Randall owned and operated Kidd’s Grocery Store in Stearns, Kentucky. But to those who knew him, it was much more than a grocery store. It was a place where friendships were made, stories were shared, and no one was ever a stranger. Randall likely gave away as many bologna sandwiches as he sold, always with a heaping of mayonnaise and a generous helping of conversation. And even after the store closed its doors, Randall continued stocking and tending to his pop machines out front, keeping a little piece of Kidd’s Grocery alive.
Randall never forgot his roots in Rock Creek, Kentucky. He loved sharing stories of growing up there, fishing, hunting, and the lessons his parents taught him about hard work, kindness, and helping others. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, spending time outdoors, and reminiscing about the people and places that shaped his life.
A member of White Oak Junction Baptist Church in Rock Creek, Kentucky, Randall’s greatest joy was sharing his love for Jesus. He believed that loving others was one of the most important things we could do in this life, and he tried to live that belief every day. He often said, “If I make someone else’s day good, then I made mine good too.”
And perhaps that is the simplest and most beautiful way to remember Randall Kidd. He loved his wife, treasured his family, never met a stranger, and found happiness in making someone else’s day a little brighter. If Randall could leave one final message, it would surely be this:
“Get to know the love of Jesus, so you can love others the way He wants us to.”
A life well lived, a faith well shared, and a love that will live on in all who knew him.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Randall Kidd.
