Raymond Edward Shoopman, age 91, husband of Anna Shoopman, of Strunk, passed away Monday, November 25th, 2024 at his home and was placed into the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Grace and Truth Tabernacle. Visitation was on Friday, November 29th, 2024 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the church. Burial followed the services in the T. Chitwood Cemetery with Military Honors.

Raymond was born to Donald and Hattie (Tucker) Shoopman, on October 5th, 1933 in the Barthell Community. On March 30th, 1959, Raymond married the love of his life, Anna Stephens. Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over ten years, being honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Raymond continued to serve after his time in active duty, in the American Legion, serving on the Honor Guard in Ohio. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel. After his military service he went to work for Avon as a machine electrician supervisor. Raymond was a faithful follower of Christ and was ordained as deacon at the Bethel Baptist Church in 2005, and a charter member of the Grace and Truth Tabernacle. He loved being outdoors, spending time pitching horseshoes, playing basketball, and fishing. Above all else, Raymond loved his family and spent every moment he could surrounded by those he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Stephen Shoopman, his brothers, Tommy Shoopman, and his wife Faye, Donald Shoopman Jr. and his wife Velma, his sisters June Stephens and her husband Ken, Nedra Duysen and her husband Larry, and Shirley Ross and her husband Noble.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Shoopman, his daughter, Susan Warren and her husband Jimmy, of Wilmington, OH, his daughter-in-law, Vicky Shoopman, of Wilmington, OH, his sisters, Donna Strunk and her husband Sam, of Pine Knot, and Linda Slaven, six grandchildren, and eleven, great-grandchildren.
