Othel Roger Koger, age 81, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Duncan, Bro. Hilton Duncan, and Bro. George Allen Coffey officiating. Burial followed in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.

He was born December 14, 1944, in the Bell Farm community of McCreary County, Kentucky, to the late Herbert Koger and Evelyn Vaughn Koger. Roger spent many years working in the coal industry for Stearns Coal and Lumber Company and Peabody Coal Company. He was a man who took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication. His commitment to providing for his family and doing every job to the best of his ability earned him the respect of all who knew him.

Roger attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bell Farm and found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains that he called home. Whether enjoying nature, sharing stories with friends, or spending time with family, Roger appreciated the simple blessings of life. Above all, he cherished his family and treasured every opportunity to be with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Evelyn Koger; his beloved wife, Betty Koger; and his brothers, Denzil Koger, Kelley Koger, and Ernest Koger.

Survivors include his sons, Scott Koger and wife, Melissa, and John Koger and wife, Kim; his brothers, Wendell Koger and Ronald Koger; his sister, Faye Koger; his grandson, Christian Slaven; along with many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing and cherish his memory.

Roger will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his family. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, integrity, and faithfulness, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him.
