Sarah Smith, age 98 years, 3 months, and 28 days, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at her home in Wiborg, Kentucky. Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:30 am at Flat Rock Cemetery with Bro. Brent Stephens officiating. Burial was in the Flat Rock Cemetery. She was born January 17, 1914 in Ages, Kentucky to William Irvin and Jane Ball Irvin. She was a homemaker and member of First Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Sarah enjoyed reading the Holy Bible, gardening and caring for her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Edd Smith, her daughters, Polly Shelton, Zona Hearld and Shirlene Cooper, one brother and one sister. Survivors include her sons, Edward Smith and his wife, Mary Ann, William Smith and his wife, Charlotte both of Calvert City, Kentucky, her daughters, Faye Michaels of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Ruby Smith and Foistene Humphrey both of Whitley City, Kentucky, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
