Mrs. Shirley Lea Phillips, age 83 years, and 18 days, passed away at her home in Stearns, Kentucky on Monday, October 12, 2020 and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial was in the Angel Cemetery. Shirley was born in Stearns, Kentucky on September 24, 1937 to the late Leo Burke and the late Jessie Bryant Burke. She was a supervisor at McCreary Manufacturing, a former Board Member at the McCreary County Board of Education and was a member at the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church. During her free time, Shirley enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors, cooking, shopping, and traveling, as she spent every winter in Florida. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Don Phillips, whom she married on May 11, 1956; her father and mother-in-law, Carey and Opal Prichard; a son-in-law, Todd Kidd; one brother, Cleston Ted Bryant; one sister, Betty Couch; and one sister-in-law, Sue Dykes. Shirley is survived by a large host of loving family, this includes: two daughters, Traci Kidd of Whitley City and Donna Madden of Winfield, Tennessee; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
