Shirley Vanover, age 80 years, 1 month, and 25 days, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Perry officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery. She was born June 30, 1940 in Wise County, Virginia to Fred Vanover and Dessie Ball Vanover. Shirley spent many years as a production worker at several different factories. She enjoyed being outdoors and found pleasure in serving others. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed making people happy. Preceding her in death were her parents, her lifelong companion, Ronald Lee Spradlin, a brother, Goman Vanover, a special nephew, Dwayne Vanover and a grandson, Chris Stephens . Survivors include a son, Crawford Vanover of Pine Knot, a daughter, Linda Spradlin and her husband, James, of Pine Knot, three grandchildren, Lora Anderson and her husband, Chris, Timothy Spradlin and his wife, Gwen, Julie Hall and her husband, Paul, nine great grand children, a sister in-law , Kinzella Vanover of Smithtown, special friends, Winnie Hatfield, and Kay Sanford, and several special nieces and nephews. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Shirley Vanover.
