Thurstle William Ridener age 85 years, 6 months, and 26 days of Stearns Kentucky passed away Sunday May 1, 2016 at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie King and Bro. Tim Stephens officiating. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery. Thurstle was born on October 5, 1930 in Smithtown, Kentucky to Lloyd and Oma (Rose) Ridener. He was a retired Coal Miner for Stearns Coal and Lumber Company and butcher for Earl Anderson's Grocery. He served his church as a deacon. Thurstle was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel's. He loved the outdoors, hunting, beekeeping, tending his garden, but the family he and Sue created was his most prized possession. His strong character was built on faith, hard work, and his generous and humble spirit. He will be forever missed, but his strength will carry us on. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Delbert S. Ridener, Rufus V. Ridener, Thurman C. Ridener, Ronald Roger Ridener, Kline Truman Ridener, and Clinton Leeds Ridener; sisters, Frances L. Ridener and Mae West. Survivors include his wife Jonetta Sue (McDonald) Ridener whom he married June 5, 1953; a son, Rick Ridener of Whitley City, Kentucky; daughters, Libby Ridener Chapman and husband, Kevin of Nashville, Tennessee and Vickie Ridener Gilreath and husband, Delmer Jr. of Marshes Siding, Kentucky; brothers, Lanny Ridener and wife, Judy of Goshen, Ohio and Hurstle Royce Ridener and wife, Liz of Strunk, Kentucky; sisters, Nina Rae Meadors of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Wynona Sullivan and husband, Wallace of Pueblo, Colorado, and Sherry Brown of Smithtown, Kentucky; grandchildren, Melody Meece Burr, Mandy Meece Johnson and husband, Steve, Wendi Ridener Smith and husband, Derrick, Dustin Spradlin, Dylan William Gage Ridener, Zoe Jane Gilreath, Kristin Chapman Davis and husband, Matt and Kelly Chapman Rankin and husband, Lee; great-grandchildren, Aiden Paul Wiliam Burr, Danielle Burr, Phoenix Craig Johnson, Molly Elizabeth Johnson, Gavin Wade Smith, Kendell Marie Smith, Savannah Grace Chapman, Ethan Ross Rankin, Carter Elias Rankin, Elliott James Davis, and Aaron Parker Davis; a special niece, Bea Kiger; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Thurstle Ridener.
