Timothy Joe Edwards, age 72, of Harvest, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tim faced his illness with quiet strength, faith, and gratitude for each day—a reflection of the grace and determination that defined his life.

Born on June 9, 1953, in Verona, Kentucky, Tim was the son of Jesse Edwards and Ruby Whitis Edwards, and brother to Jeff (Angie) and Greg (Sheila). He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Ruby Edwards, his father-in-law Bob Godsey, his nephew Allen Van Horn, and his niece Sara Edwards Haar.

He was a proud and loving father to Grant (Chrissy) and Ross (Alyssa), and a devoted grandfather to Jesse, Deacon, Jerri, Cooper, and Sawyer—his greatest joys. Tim was never happier than when surrounded by his family.

A lifelong learner, Tim graduated from Walton Verona High School in 1971 and went on to earn multiple degrees across a range of disciplines. He received his Bachelor's degree from Cumberland College, a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts (and ABD PhD) from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Science in Library Science from the Catholic University of America. He later completed specialized training in Cost Management Certification at the Naval Postgraduate School.

Tim devoted his distinguished career to public service and scholarship. As Command Librarian for the U.S. Army Materiel Command, he was known affectionately for his bow ties, wit, and raucous humor, as well as for his intellectual rigor and unwavering professionalism. His expertise in Lean Six Sigma, Cost Management, and Library and Information Science reflected his belief that knowledge is a cornerstone of leadership and service. He was deeply admired by colleagues for his integrity, precision, and mentorship.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tim was defined by his deep faith and steadfast devotion to family. While attending Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, his life would soon change at the meeting of a girl from McCreary County, Kentucky. For nearly 50 years, Debbie Godsey Edwards would journey through life as Tim's wife, best friend, and partner of almost 50 years. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and wisdom, beginning with Tim's first congregation at Oak Island Baptist Church in Morning View, Kentucky. Their journey together spanned decades and places—28 years in Charlottesville, Virginia, and 17 years in Harvest, Alabama—forming lifelong friendships along the way.

Tim held a deep and enduring love for his extended family, including his parents-in-law Bob and Erna Godsey, and sisters-in-law Pam, Judi, and Tonja, who brought joy, laughter, and lasting family bonds to his life.

Tim will be lovingly remembered as a master storyteller with a wry sense of humor, an endless curiosity, and a heart for conversation. Whether discussing history, theology, or recounting Tom Sawyer-like tales of fishing, golfing, and adventures with his grandchildren, Tim's stories were always infused with his sense of humor and boisterous laughter—frequently shared with his loyal and steadfastly devoted friend, Ken Tavares.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Pine Knot, Kentucky, in remembrance of a life well-lived and a legacy of wisdom, faith, and love.

Tim's family extends heartfelt gratitude to friends and colleagues who supported him throughout his journey. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory may do so through gifts to the Pine Knot Cemetery, P.O. Box 423, Pine Knot, KY, 42635-0423.
