Vella Lee Baker, age, 88, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Keeping with her wishes, Vella was cremated. A memorial service was held Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 12:00pm in the chapel at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home in Whitley City, Kentucky. She was born June 25, 1930 in McCreary County, Kentucky to Henry Roberts and Mattie Clark Roberts. Vella was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She has been a hairdresser and was the manager of the Big John's store in Revelo until her retirement. Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Bruce Baker, a brother, Lowell Roberts, a sister, Edith Ball, and a granddaughter, Kristen. Survivors include a son, Terry Baker and his wife, Ellen, of Whitley City, three brothers, Eugene Roberts of Whitley City, Dwayne Robert and Boyce Roberts, both of Sevierville, Tennessee, two Sisters, Wilda Foster, of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Henrietta Winchester, of Whitley City, three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Hickman -Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Vella Baker.
