Wenard "Moe" Weaver, age 91, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, in the chapel of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Mountain View Cemetery.

He was born on November 1, 1934, in Sutton, West Virginia, to the late Warden Weaver and Lucille Kough Weaver. Wenard was a member of Pleasant Run Community Church and lived a life marked by dedication to his work, his faith, and his family. He served in the United States Marine Reserve and was a graduate of West Virginia University.

Wenard devoted his career to forestry, working as a forester and sharing his knowledge by teaching at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, now Mountain Gateway Community College, as well as Alpena Community College. He also managed Kendall Campground at Wolf Creek Dam, Fishing Creek, and Cumberland Pointe. In his earlier years, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners in Alpena, Michigan. He found great enjoyment in fishing and boating, and especially cherished the time he spent with his family.

On December 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Helen Galvin Weaver, in Seattle, Washington, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Weaver; his sister, Anna Mary Reed; and his son-in-law, Leamon Godsey.

Survivors include his two sons, Eric Weaver and Douglas Weaver (Lisa); three daughters, Ricki Godsey, Nikki New (Ronald), and Virginia James (Charles); 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
