Wilma Laura Neal, 83, of Pine Knot, KY, died peacefully on December 10, 2015, at Morning Pointe in Lexington, KY, where she had been a resident for the last 5 months of her life. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Stearns First Baptist Church with Bro. Hilton Duncan officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery. She was born on April 30, 1932, the third child of Jeff and Reba Anderson at their home on Rock Creek in eastern McCreary County and was a proud 1950 graduate of Pine Knot High School. She eloped and married Cecil Neal, on November 5, 1950. Wilma learned the grocery business from her mother and grew up in the store, first on Rock Creek and then in Pine Knot where she remained working alongside her brother, Earl, at Anderson Grocery until retirement in 2003. She cherished the customers of the store and even after retirement she often kept a watchful eye on the store from her living room picture widow just across the street. She was a fine baker of pies and an avid photographer. She seemed to always have her camera with her wherever she went especially at reunions and church events. She was a longtime member of Stearns First Baptist Church and joined Laurel Heights Chapter, No. 228 – Order of the Eastern Star in 1957 and became a life member in 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Earl and Glen, and sisters, Thelma, Frieda, Kathryn, and Hazel. She is survived by her sister Betty (Robert) Lawson of Stearns and her sons, Scott (Jennifer Burchett) Neal of Lexington, KY, Dan (Linda) Neal of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Sarah Neal McCurry of Columbia, TN; David Scott Neal, Jr. of Lexington, KY; Henry Preston Neal of Cincinnati, OH; and Lauren Louisa Neal of Bon Repos, Haiti. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Wilma Neal.
