Ada  Coffey
Ada Coffey, age 91 years, 8 months and 14 days, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at her home in Stearns, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Inman officiating. Burial was in the Angel Cemetery.
She was born April 22, 1926 in Slavens, Kentucky to James Clark and Eva Jane Abbott Clark. Ada was a homemaker and a member of the East Apple Tree United Baptist Church. She was a master seamstress who enjoyed quilting and had made quilts for all family members. she loved gardening, and found pleasure in cooking and caring for her family, always keeping her family well fed. Ada was a truly great woman from the greatest generation.
Preceding her in death were here parents, her husband, Homer Coffey, whom she married March 9, 1943 in Ritner, Kentucky, one daughter, Lenna Vaughn, three brothers, Chester, Lester and Goman Clark, two sisters, Elizabeth Ball and Lora Brown, one great granddaughter, Joycee Cameron, and one son-in-law, Truesdale Coffey.
Survivors include five sons, George Allen Coffey, and his wife, Evelyn, of Stearns, Ky., Donald Coffey, and his wife, Sue, of Stearns, Ky., Larry Coffey, and his wife, Donna, of Whitley City, Ky., Gary Coffey, and his wife, Amy, of Whitley City, Ky., and Mike Coffey, of Somerset, Ky., four daughters, Joyce Coffey, of Somerset, Ky., Anita Sutton, and her husband, Dwight, of Stearns, Ky., Sandra Strunk, and her husband, Charles, of Stearns, Ky., and Brenda Coffey, of Stearns, Ky., one son-in-law, Dale Vaughn, of Stearns, Ky., twenty grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, sixteen great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCreary County Christian Care Center.
