Barbara Etta (Lawson) Smith age 68 years, 2 months, and 2 days of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe officiating. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery.
She was born December 10, 1946 in Oneida, Tennessee to Raymond Lawson and Dora (Shepherd) Lawson. Barbara was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher, working 27 years in the McCreary County School System and 2 years in Louisville, Kentucky. Barbara enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and reading.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her sisters, Ella Mae Perry (Hobert), Beatrice Stephens (Robert), Sylvia Jones (Clell), and Tressa Lawson.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Paul Smith, whom she married, May 31, 1969; her son; Dustin Smith of Whitley City, Kentucky; her daughter, Marea Strunk (Michael) Strunk, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jeremy Strunk, Jacob Strunk, Tyler Strunk, Brad Strunk; special nieces, Dora Lou Grills and Myra D. King.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Barbara Smith.
