Billie Jo Davis age 80 years, 8 months, and 6 days, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley officiating. Burial was held Sunday at 1:00 pm at the Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born July 21, 1933 in Worley, Kentucky to DeWitt Slaven and Janell (Duncan) Slaven . Jo was a member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and crafting as well as traveling, reading, and music. Jo loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Preceding her in death are her parents and brothers, Mark Slaven and Merle Cephas Slaven.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Davis, whom she married October 30, 1949; son, Larry Davis and wife, Becky; daughter, Betsey Jones , all of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, Alton Slaven and wife, Sue, of Stearns, Kentucky, Don Slaven and wife, Valda, also of Stearns, Kentucky, Paul Slaven and wife, Carly, of Strunk, Kentucky, Gary Slaven and wife, Brenda, of Somerset, Kentucky, and Mike Slaven and wife, Kim, of Winfield, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Shannon Carter, Miki Davis, Kelli Davis, Gabriel Jones, Sheri Jones, and Ian Adkins.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Billie Jo Davis.
