Billy David Ridener age 60 years, 7 months, and 28 days of Sawyer, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday March 12, 2020, from the Markey Cancer Center, in Lexington Kentucky and was taken into the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:30 pm at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Mill Creek Cemetery.

Bill was born July 15, 1959 in Somerset, Kentucky to Leamon Ridener and Pearlie (Rose) Ridener. Bill graduated from McCreary County High School and also from vocational school, where he trained to be a diesel mechanic. He then spent 10 years working for Mack International Trucks before going to work for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife where he retired with 28 years of service. He was also a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, and enjoying bluegrass music but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father and two infant brothers.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Janice Sumner Ridener, sons, Jonathon Ridener and Billy Darrell Ridener, and his wife, Sarah, all of Sawyer, his mother, Mrs. Pearlie Ridener also of Sawyer, grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Caleb David Ridener, three sisters, Sharon Ridener and her husband, Garry, of Corbin, Della Jones and her husband, Carl “Skip”, of Whitley City, and Donna Loudermilk and her husband, Kevin, of Sawyer, one brother, Jerry Wayne Ridener and his wife, Jennifer, of Corbin, and as Bill would say, a slew of nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Bill was well liked and respected in the community, always ready to offer a helping hand and encouraging word to everyone he met. He leaves a lasting memory that we hold dear and take comfort in.

Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Bill Ridener.
