Carlis H. Vanover age 77 years, 7 months, and 23 days of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Bro. Thomas Corder officiating. Burial followed in the Eagle Creek Cemetery.
He was born September 18, 1936 in Parkers Lake, Kentucky to Luther T. Vanover and Fenty (Rose) Vanover. Carlis was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having served from 1954-1958. He was a member of the Kinne-Slaven Post 115 American Legion of Stearns, Kentucky and the North Bend Masonic Lodge # 0346 of Cleeves, Ohio for more than 40 years. Carlis enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting native art, and was a basketball fan of the U.K. Wildcats.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Martha Jane (Brown) Vanover, brothers, Denver, Lloyd, Boyd, and Virgil Vanover, and sisters, Estelean Muncy and Norma Warman.
Survivors include his sister, Elsie Randolph of Somerset, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Carlis Vanover.
