Deemes C  Nevels
Deemes C. Nevels, age 85 years, 4 months, and 24 days, of the Greenwood community, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 29,2017 at 7:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley, Bro. Roger Bryant, and Bro. Mike Casada officiating. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 10:00 am Monday.
He was born June 2, 1932 in Nevelsville, Kentucky to William Hayden Nevels and Maggie Morrow Nevels. Deemes was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He had worked for LeBlonde Corporation and GE in Cincinnati. After returning home, he owned and operated Nevels' Service Station. Deemes was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church and the North McCreary Fire Department, which he was instrumental in establishing. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother-in-law, Olin Stanton.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Nevels, whom he married April 19, 1959, son, David Nevels and his wife, Teresa, of Cincinnati, Ohio, a very special friend he considered a son, Danny Morrow and his wife, Beverly, of Monticello, Kentucky, brother, Gail Nevels, sisters, Geraldeen Chapman and her husband, Norman,of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, and sister, Emmaline Stanton of Cleeves, Ohio, and his uncle, Silas Nevels, of Somerset, Kentucky.
Hickman-Strunk was honored to serve the family of Deemes Nevels.
