Obituary

Derrick Dwayne Coffey, age 39, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019.

Funeral Services were Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 1:00 PM in the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home Chapel in Whitley City, Kentucky. Burial was in the Cecil Cemetery in Scott County, Tennessee.

Derrick was born February 10, 1980 to Larry Coffey and Pamela Carson Coffey. He was an Auto Detailer and he loved to spend time with his family, listen to country music, and watch the Kentucky Wildcats or the Cincinnati Reds play. He always loved sports and was an exceptional high school football and baseball player.

Preceding him in death are: his maternal grandfather, Kenard Carson; his paternal grandparents, Harley and Carrie Coffey; and his uncle, Kenny Carson.

He is survived by: his father, Larry Coffey of Whitley City; his mother and stepfather, Pamela and Terry Upchurch of Somerset; his maternal grandmother, Martha Carson of Pine Knot; one son, Ryan Strunk of Marshes Siding; one daughter, Railey Coffey of Somerset; two sisters, Kendra Coffey and her partner, Mark Caldwell, of Oneida, and Terri Upchurch and her partner, Chris Barnes, of Somerset; his best friend, Jarrod Sumner; nieces and nephews, Kendyl, Lexie, Austin, and Christian; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
