DOYLE E.  WORLEY
Rev. Doyle E. Worley, age 77, of Jacksboro passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Cross-Smith Funeral Home in LaFollette, Tennessee with Rev. Jim Bolton, Rev. Derick Hembree, and Rev. Dennis Pittman officiating. Burial was in the Nevelsville Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 am.
He was born September 23, 1937 in Stearns, KY to Howard and Mary Worley. The family moved to Marion, IN where he graduated high school and married his childhood sweetheart, B. Elizabeth (Corder) Worley, shortly afterwards. In 1956, Rev. Worley was called to preach the Gospel and ordained at Westside United Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana in 1959. Rev. Worley founded the Old Fashioned United Baptist Church of Muncie in 1963 where he pastored for ten years. After moving the family to Largo, FL, Rev. Worley also founded Faith Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Tampa, FL in 1972 where he pastored for nearly 20 years. In addition to preaching God's word, Rev. Worley loved Gospel music and was also in several Gospel quartets, including the Celestial Heirs, The Southland Boys and the Inheritance Quartet. A member of Fraterville Baptist Church and retired early from General Telephone Co. in 1991, when he felt led to make his residence in LaFollette, TN. He evangelized for many more years and had television ministries in Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia.
Rev. Worley is preceded in death by both of his parents and sisters, Gladys Worley Corder and Evelyn Worley Jones.
Survived by his wife of 59 years, B. Elizabeth (Corder) Worley; his two sons, Rodney Worley & wife Paula of Jacksboro, TN, and Brian Worley & wife Faith of Safety Harbor, FL; a brother: Otis Worley of Stearns, KY; eight grandchildren, Amy Worley, Adam Worley, Tabitha Watts, Caleb Worley, Rodney Sohngen, Tammy Howsare, John Sohngen and Dannelle Hyde and many great-grandchildren
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Rev. Doyle E. Worley with local arrangements.
