Geraldine Farrar Ferguson age 92 years, 7 months, and 20 days of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Gregory officiating. Burial followed in the Mill Springs Cemetery.
She was born April 18, 1921 in Sandersville, Georgia to Stephens Whitmire and Jesse (Mayes) Whitmire. Geraldine was a member of the Whitley City United Methodist Church. She was well known for her substitute teaching for the McCreary County School System for many years. Geraldine was an aspiring author whose poems were published in her earlier years. She was also very active in the BPW, starting a writers club in McCreary County. Along with writing, Geraldine enjoyed playing the piano and crocheting.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Joe Bill Ferguson.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Ferguson and wife, Kristen, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Charles Ferguson and wife, Kristin, of Williamstown, Kentucky; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Geraldine Ferguson.
