Imogene Strunk, age 85 years, 4 months, and 1 day, went to be with the Lord peacefully from her home, Tuesday, October 9, 2013 after spending the day with her sisters.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Strunk, Tim Ham, and Hap Strunk officiating. Burial was in the Strunk Family Cemetery.
She was born the eldest of 12 children on June 8, 1928 in Jellico Creek in Whitley County, Kentucky to William McKinley Trammell and Lou Vena (Chinn) Trammell. Imogene married Ottis H. Strunk in 1945 and raised a family of six children, Franklin M. Strunk, Brenda Ham, Thomas Strunk and wife, Sharon, David A. Strunk, James O. “Hap” Strunk and wife, Tracey, and Anne Strunk.
Imogene’s life was dedicated to her Savior and her family. She became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union for more than 25 years. World missions were important to Imogene, she worked tirelessly to raise money for WMU. Imogene loved her family dearly and worked long hard hours helping provide for them in a laundry facility and at home. She taught her children hard work, integrity, sacrifice, commitment, and values that she also handed down to her grandchildren.
Imogene was proceeded in death by her husband; her parents; a son in law, Benny Ham; brothers, William “Little Bill” Trammell and Cecil Trammell; and a sister, Lois (Trammell) Creekmore.
Survivors include her children, 11 grand children, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great- great-grandchild; brothers, Bob Trammell and wife Gwen, Ralph Trammell and wife Peggy, and Larry Trammell and wife Sheila; sisters, Betty Perry and husband Rev. Leamon, Jewel Cobb, Carol Meadors and husband Marvin, Norma Meadors and husband Monte Ray, and Doris Faye Stephens and husband John A.; a sister-in-law, Ittylene Trammell; a brother-in-law, Bob Creekmore; several nieces and nephews; a dear friend whom she loved like a daughter, Carol Hayes; and Teresa Stephens, who was a caretaker and close friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCreary County Christian Care Center.
