Obituary for Joanne Perry (Strunk)
Joanne Perry age 78 years, 8 months, and 13 days of Harrison, Ohio, formerly of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Shawneespring of Harrison.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Ford officiating. Burial followed in the McCreary Memorial Gardens.
She was born April 4, 1936 in Smithtown, Kentucky to Elbert Strunk and Edith (Owens) Strunk. Joanne was a member of the First Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Joanne was an accomplished Floral Designer and had previously owned a florist shop in Whitley City and in Cincinnati. She also owned the local JCPenny Catalog Store. Joanne loved her grandchildren and her family.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a step-father, Theo Abbott; an infant brother, Morris Strunk; brothers-in-law, Deward Cole, Clifford Perry, and Ed Sumner; and sisters-in-law, Nora Perry Sumner and Linda Perry Vanover.
Survivors include her husband, Darvin B. Perry, whom she married May 8, 1953; sons, Steve Perry of Strunk, KY, and Mark Perry and wife, Allyson, of CO; daughters, Debbie Montgomery and husband, Danny, of Cincinnati, OH, and Denise Baird and husband, Jeff, of Somerset, KY; sisters, Pat Cole of Plainfield, IN, Pam Wilson and husband, Buddy, of Whitley City, KY, and Kathy Woods and husband, Steve, of Somerset, KY; grandchildren, Kim, Matthew, Shane, Shelby, Shelley, Nicholas, Chad, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Carter, Brayden, Brooke, Blake, Ethan, Samantha, Alex, Brittany, Tyler, Hannah, Kayden, Jonas, Jacob, Isaac, Abigail, Andrew, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Mason; brothers and sisters-in-law, Starlin Perry and wife, Della, Carl Perry and wife, Katherine, Elsie Perry, Wanda McCullah and husband, Ray, James Perry and wife, Mary, and Darrell Vanover; and several nieces and nephews.
