Laura Brown age 84 years, 7 months, and 26 days, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Meadows Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Jess Privett Cemetery.
She was born August 8, 1929 in Marsh Creek, Kentucky to Jess Privett and Grace (Stephens) Privett. Laura was a member of the Meadows Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to gospel music. Laura also loved being outdoors and gardening.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Charles Junior Brown; sons, Walter, Marvin, Chester, Ricky, and Mickey Brown; brothers, Ray, Ruben, and Frank Privett; and sisters, Beulah, Rosemary, and Birdie.
Survivors include her daughters, Tava Privett and husband, Steve, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Shirl Chitwood and husband, Dale, of Winfield, Tennessee; a sister, Josie Tapley; a brother, Jay Privett; grandchildren, Tony Privett and wife, Carla, Todd Privett and wife, Heather, Sean Privett and wife, Amber, Misty Hamlin and husband, Ronnie, and Chris Chitwood; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Laura Brown.
