Levenia “Venie” Jones of Pine Knot, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. She was 91 years, 9 months and 25 days of age. She was born on August 29, 1922 to the late Monroe Alsip and Angeline (Taylor) Alsip. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Jones. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Jones and his wife Elene of the Pleasant Hill Community, Williamsburg, Kentucky; three daughters, Bernice Shelton and her husband Bill of Rockwood, Tennessee, Marilyn Lovett and her husband Robert of Erlanger, Kentucky and Sandra E. Lynch and her husband Grover of Pine Knot, Kentucky; grandchildren, Sharon Veit, Sheila Rose, Robert Huddleston Jr., Patrick Dewayne Huddleston, Vanessa Stephens, Kimberly Sipple, Paula Hoagland, Audrey Luker, Christopher Lynch, Kirby Shelton and Brenda Kip Gardner; great grandchildren, Courtney Veit, Devin Rose, Anthony Rose, Josh Huddleston, Denim Jean Huddleston, Lacy Huddleston, Scarlet Huddleston, Jessie Huddleston, Noah Huddleston, Matthew Stevens, Mallory Stevens, Ryan Sipple, Jacob Sipple, David Hoagland, Megan Hoagland, Corey Hoagland, Kaylee Hoagland, Jessie Jo Luker, Angel Lynch, Kristen Lynch, Emily Lynch, Brent Shelton and Kie Gardner; 10 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jim Alsip of Williamsburg, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Janus Jones officiating. She was laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Redbird Community.
