Merrell Allen Stephens age 61 years, 2 months, and 13 days of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott in Oneida, Tennessee.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. RL "Steve" Stephens and Bro. Bill Phelps officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.
He was born October 21, 1953 in Somerset, Kentucky to Roscoe Daniel Stephens and Esther (Ballew) Stephens. Merrell was of the Church of God faith. He had made a living as a Truck Driver and Mechanic. Merrell enjoyed cars and motorcycles and working on vehicles. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Robert and Jim Stephens; and a brother-in-law, Howard Childers.
Survivors include his children, Mary Preister and husband, Eric, of Topeka, KS, Missy Hayward and husband, Stephen, of Savannah, GA, Christina Connors, also of Savannah, GA, Deborah Bryant and husband, Danny, of North Vernon, Ind., and Thomas Connors and wife, April, of Somerset, KY; a brother, Gary Stephens and wife, Jean, of Somerset, KY; sisters, Norma Jean Childers of Whitley City, KY, and Ruth Ann Worley and husband, Jim, also of Whitley City, KY; grandchildren, Jessica McKey, Dylan McKey, Briar Connors, Cissanie Connors, Christopher Preister, Nicholas Sargent, and Mary Elizabeth Amis; and sister-in-law, Sue Stephens of Somerset, KY.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Merrell Stephens.
