Noble Jefferson Ball age 78 of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, formerly of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 12:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
He was born October 7, 1935 in McCreary County, Kentucky to George M. Ball and Rosie G. (Swain) Ball. Noble graduated from the Pine Knot High School in 1954 and was the co-caption of the basketball team. He retired in 1991from the BASF company in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Florida. In 2010 Noble moved to Tennessee.
He had a love for horse shoes and belonged to the NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitcher's Association), the Ohio-Kentucky Horseshoe Club, Local 100 Teamsters Union, and the Moose Lodge. Around the horseshoe organization, Noble was well known as "Jeff".
Preceding him in death are his parents, 7 brothers and sisters, and grandsons, James Baker and Miles Whalen.
Survivors include his daughter, Terry Bowen and husband, Scott, of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; sons, Michael Ball of St. Cloud, Florida and Brian Armes and wife, Brandi, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Homer Ball and wife, Dorothy, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Anna Ball (widow of Arnold Ball) of Lebanon, Ohio; a granddaughter, Tara (Baker) Maillard of Chiefland, Florida; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Easton, and Camile.
Flowers are accepted, but donations may also be made to the American Heart Association.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mr. Noble Ball.
