Obituary

Ottis "Hotshot" Perry passed from this life on November 14, 2019.
He was born in Sawyer, Kentucky on July 11, 1949 to the late Jack Perry and Bonnie (Ridener) Perry. Hotshot, as he was known to most by the nickname given to him by his mother, was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and enjoyed making others laugh.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Ottis "Jack" Perry Jr.; four sisters, Pearlie Vanover, Marie Sewell, Imogene Perry, and Eavi Perry.
Hotshot is survived by: his wife of nearly 46 years, Deanie Bryant Perry; a son, Don Perry and wife Amy Perry; two grandsons that he was very proud of, Gunner and Kobe Perry; one sister, Nonnie Lou Hamlin; and one brother, Glen Perry.
He worked at Cumberland Falls State Park, in the coal industry, and at Tombstone Junction, where he loved portraying a cowboy, undertaker, and town drunk in the gunfight shows. Hotshot was a hunter's safety instructor and was also instrumental in establishing Camp Arnold, a hunter's safety and wildlife conservation camp for youth. He was one of the founding members of the Eagle-Sawyer Fire Department, where he served as the first Chief.
Hotshot's kidding personality and kindness will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Higginbotham Cemetery on Beulah Heights Road in Whitley City, Kentucky.
