Obituary for Sheri Kaye McDonald

Sheri Kaye McDonald
Sheri Kaye McDonald, 54, of Orange Park, Florida, formerly of Stearns, Kentucky, took her heavenly flight the morning of February 25, 2017 from Orange Park Medical Center.
She was born January 26, 1963in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Emma Irene Chitwood McDonald and Donald Dean McDonald. In 1981 Sheri graduated from McCreary Central High School in Stearns, Kentucky then went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman Second Class (RM2) from 1986 to 1996, retiring in Jacksonville, Florida. She received a Masters in Psychology from Columbia College of Missouri, and a Masters in Administration from Central Michigan University. Sheri became a professor and administrator at Florida State College at Jacksonville, as well as teaching at NAS Jax and Jones College. She was a Guardian ad Litem, and a generous volunteer for seniors. Sheri became an American Express representative in 2009, and spent her free time mystery shopping, reading, and being an immensely talented poet.
Preceding her in death were brothers, Lyle McDonald and Michael McDonald. Her sweet Chihuahua, Sebastian, died of a broken heart only 3 days after Sheri's death.

Survivors include her mother, Emma Irene Revels, a daughter, Rachel Kaye Sawyer, a son, John Robert Osment, their father, John R. Osment, a granddaughter, Indi Joy Sawyer, all of Jacksonville, Florida, brother, Jeff McDonald and his wife, Sherry, of Stearns, Kentucky, as well as her loving uncle, John W. Chitwood and his wife, Judy, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, and dear aunt ,Cathy Chaney, of Dayton, Ohio.

Sheri was a smart, devoted, and giving woman who put others before herself. She was a veteran, friend, a helper, and loving mother, grandmother, and daughter. She will always be remembered for her tenacity as she took on the role of motherhood , how hard she fought in sickness, and her stubbornness to never let her children fall behind their potential that she knew they would eventually reach. Though she is gone, she will never be forgotten, and her words will provide much needed motherly aid throughout our lives forever.

In lieu of flowers or material possessions, a trust fund has been created for her beloved granddaughter Indi Joy at Vystar Credit Union, account #2722338.
