Thomas Lee "Tom"  Strunk
Thomas Lee "Tom" Strunk age 65 years, 7 months, and 26 days went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Corbin. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with J.L White and Hap Strunk officiating. Burial followed in the Strunk Family Cemetery.
Born October 12, 1948 in Ages, Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Ottis H. and Imogene (Trammell) Strunk, Tom earned his living as a lineman, a mine foreman, and an electrician.
He was an avid outdoorsman, a skilled hunter, fisherman, and also a dog, horse, and mule trainer. Tom was also an excellent marksman who enjoyed guns and trading. He was also a farmer, and enjoyed farm animals and a simpler way of life.
Tom and Sharon (Stephens) were married July 6, 1968 and have two children, Stephen Lee Strunk and wife, Misti, and Sarah Wilson and husband, J.R., a granddaughter Stefani Jeffers, two step-grandchildren, Dustin Wilson and Brittany Smiddy, and 6 step great grandchildren, all surviving.
Also surviving are his siblings Franklin M. Strunk of Bardstown, Kentucky, Brenda Ham of Somerset, Kentucky, David A. Strunk of Pine Knot, Kentucky, James O. Hap Strunk and wife, Tracey, of Revelo, Kentucky, and Anne Strunk of Science Hill, Kentucky.
Tom was also an ordained minister of the Gospel, with the General Assembly Church of God, headquartered in Pine Knot, Kentucky.
Tom will be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and his steadfast faith in Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McCreary County Christian Care Center.
