Obituary for Trula Smith

Trula (Waters) Smith, 65, of Daleville, Indiana left the cares of this life on Friday July 27, 2018 to forever live and worship her Savior in Heaven. She was born on October 12, 1952 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Goldman and Ethel (Tapley) Waters.
Trula loved children and worked as a preschool teacher at the Daleville Christian Church Daycare center for 26 years prior to her retirement in 2016. Those that knew Trula knew that she was the happiest when she was with her family and Christian Friends in church services. She was a dedicated member of the Westside United Baptist Church, part of the Westside Willing Workers, and was a Youth Leader for many years. Over 40 years of her life were spent traveling and singing with The Cross Carriers southern gospel singing group. Most of all Trula enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing with her friends on Facebook, and serving The Lord through song and prayer.
Trula is survived by her best friend and loving soul mate of 43 years, Harvey Eugene Smith. Two Daughters, Jacinna “Jay” (husband-Monty) Salyers of Alexandria and Sarah (husband-Robert) Goolsby of Anderson. Four grandchildren, Cameron Campbell, Paige Salyers, Ronise Goolsby, and Elias Harvey Goolsby.
She is also survived by four brothers Delon (wife-Geneva) Waters and Robert (wife-June) Waters both of Muncie, DeWayne (wife-Julie) Waters of Selma, and Larry (wife-Dedra) Waters of Yorktown. Three sisters, Phyllis (husband-James) Winningham and Janice (husband-William)Thornbro both of Muncie and Irene (husband-Terry) Legg of Peru. Two sisters –in-law Mary (husband-Carl) Spradlin of Muncie and Nila Waters of Gaston, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Special adopted children, Amanda Coffey-Gray, Elizabeth Carroll, and Jeffrey Newton.
Trula was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Tommy Waters, and many precious friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Westside United Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Waters officiating. Burial followed at the Sunderland Cemetery rural Daleville.
Friends may call at the Westside United Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
