Obituary for Violet Nevels (Griffis)
Violet (Griffis) Nevels, age 85, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away January 9, 2014 at Drake Vitas Hospice Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Landon Sexton officating. Burial followed in the Nevelsville Cemetery.
She was born January 6, 1929 in Pike County, Kentucky to Ottis D. Griffis and Maggie Strunk Griffis. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. Vie was passionate about her family and had a love and flair for gardening.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Jim Blane Griffis, and a sister, Beulah Taylor.
Survivors include her husband, Silas Nevels, a WWII Veteran, a son, Craig Nevels and his wife Denise, a daughter, Connie Howard and her husband, Brian, grandchildren, Stephanie Mobarry and her husband, Andy, Jason Howard, Kelly Ossenbeck, and Sean Howard, great grandchildren, Steven and Olivia, a sister, Betty Clark, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Remember Violet for her devotion to our Lord and Savior thru song and prayer as a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
