Virgil Leon "Pap" Lewis age 71 years, 10 months, and 29 days of Whitley City, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hilton Duncan officiating. Burial followed in the Nancy Grave Cemetery.
He was born March 5, 1944 in White Oak Juntion, Kentucky to Virgil "Pete" Lewis and Minnie Ethel (Jones) Lewis. Pap was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially tending to the babies. Pap also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and whittling.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Eston, and Larry Lewis; sisters, Lela Kidd and Mildred "Midge" Davis; and an infant sister, Fayrene Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Blackburn) Lewis of Whitley City, Kentucky; sons, Clayton Lewis also of Whitley City, Kentucky, and Virgil Lewis, Jr. and wife, Rosie, of Pine Knot, Kentucky; a daughter, Karen Cecil of Somerset, Kentucky; a special son, Nicholas Sedivi and wife, Jody, of Beulah Heights, Kentucky; a brother, Edward Lewis of Whitley City, Kentucky; sisters, Othela Duncan of Oneida, Tennessee, Evaley Duncan of Stearns, Kentucky, Ella Mae Smith of Muncie, Indiana, Joyce Smith of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Nelda Martin of Stearns, Kentucky, and Carolyn Helbert, also of Stearns, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kalyn Carpenter, Laura Lewis, Vincent Lewis, Hailey Lewis, Sara Barnett, Codey Smith, and Brooklyn Sedivi; great-grandchildren, Connor, Kolbie, and Kallie Lewis; a special friend, "little brother" Ed Roberts and wife, Sharon; and sister-in-law, Ersel Day of Brockwood, Tennessee.
